From 6th June to 31st July 2024 Palazzo Reale hosts "Royals on Rails" a photographic exhibition dedicated to the train that once escorted the Italian royalty and their illustrious guests.

Harmony, refinement and sumptuousness distinguish the Royal Train environments, making them noble works of art resulting from classic references and new ornamental techniques.

The initiative, promoted by Municipality of Milan – Culture and Fondazione FS Italiane, develops an itinerary that touches Palazzo Reale of Milan and Reggia of Monza - respectively the city and country residences of royalty – which are connected to the railway system, including the Royal Pavilion of Milano Centrale station and the Royal Hall of Monza station.

These spaces were designed at the beginning of the 1930s, to welcome the sovereign in the station and ensure his safety during the wait, while offering the opportunity to perform functions of institutional representation.
