Alongside the major retrospective at Palazzo Reale, "Ugo Mulas. The process of photography", hosted in Palazzo Reale from 10th of October 2024 to 2nd of February 2025 takes place a multi-venue project called "Ugo Mulas and the city" , which aims to retrace and celebrate the key locations significant for the photographer’s artistic research and highlighting his close relationship with the city of Milan.


From October 10, 2024, Pinacoteca di Brera, Palazzo Citterio, Museo del Novecento, Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine, Museo Poldi Pezzoli and Fondazione Marconi will be presenting a selection of works by Ugo Mulas intimately connected to their site and histories.

For instance, Joan Miró’s portrait, a shot taken in 1963 in a room at the Poldi Pezzoli, next to the famous Portrait of a Young Woman by Pollaiolo, along with portraits of artists whose works are now housed in the Museo del Novecento; photographs of the city and its neighbourhoods, and reflecting the deep friendship between Ugo Mulas and Giorgio Marconi.
Led by this synergy, it will be possible to dive into a wide-ranging narrative that indissolubly intertwines Mulas’s biographical and artistic journey with the historical and cultural context of Milan, inviting visitors to continue their exploration beyond the exhibition.
The itinerary, developed as an intellectual journey, opens on October 10 at Pinacoteca di Brera, Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine, Museo Poldi Pezzoli, and Fondazione Marconi; and at Museo del Novecento on October 11. In December, Palazzo Citterio will also join the project for its new opening.

Carlo Orsi fotografo exhibition at Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine. Fondazione Marconi and Museum of Palazzo Morando offer free admission. With a ticket to Museo del Novecento, visitors may gain admission to the Ugo Mulas exhibition at a reduced price.
