An extensive retrospective on the photographic work of Mario Dondero (Milan, 1928 - Petritoli, 2015) will be held for the first time in Milan, in the Appartamento dei Principi of Palazzo Reale from June 21st to September 6th 2023.

Mario Dondero is one of the main actors of Italian photography in the second half of the twentieth century and a leading photojournalist on the international scene.

Several unpublished shots, such as the portraits of Pier Paolo Pasolini and Laura Betti, will be on display beside many of his most iconic photographs.

The exhibition is conceived as a narrative winding along many stages. Each of the ten rooms is in fact designed as a micro-exhibition: from the photographs of the first trips to Portugal in the 1950s, exhibited in the first room, up to the shots taken in Kabul in the 2000s, on display in the tenth room.
