This exhibition is the first solo show dedicated to the work of Leonora Carrington in Italy and aims to present the artist as a radically multifaceted figure, spanning the many languages she explored: painting, writing, theatre, and critical thought.

Through a selection of visionary works and archival materials, the exhibition delves into her imaginative and intellectual universe, where art, mythology, ecology, feminism, and spirituality merge. The exhibition highlights Carrington’s deep connection with Italy, beginning with her discovery of Renaissance art in Florence during her formative years, and brings to light the complexity of her cultural roots, Celtic and post-Victorian, as well as her involvement in the Surrealist movement.

The exhibition path retraces the unique trajectory of a woman artist, migrant, and exile, who made imagination a tool of resistance and knowledge. Carrington emerges as a pioneer of ecofeminism and a tireless explorer of consciousness, capable of giving life to a fantastical and subversive world where the everyday intertwines with alchemy, fairy tale, and the unconscious.

The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, books from her personal library, unpublished writings and documents, offering an extraordinary opportunity to discover one of the most influential and visionary figures of the twentieth century.
