From March 2nd to April 1st, 2024, at Palazzo Reale Milano, the Contemporary Museum Watching exhibition showcases 62 shots by the photographer Alex Trusty, presented to the public for the first time. The works are drawn from a selection of shots taken between 2015-2023 in over 80 museums, from the Pinacoteca di Brera to the Galleria Borghese, from the Vatican Museums to the Archaeological Museum of Naples, and including numerous international museums such as the National Gallery in London, the MOMA in New York, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Musée Magritte in Brussels and many others.

In museums, the photographer is drawn to everything that happens around the artwork,  but is particularly attracted by the viewer contemplating and complementing the artwork. The relationship between man and artwork is now stripped of the reverence of the past, giving way to a free and new interaction, which explains the title "Contemporary” Museum Watching. Another protagonist of the shots on display is architecture: buildings, galleries and museum spaces.

An exhibition by the Municipality of Milan - Culture Area | Palazzo Reale | Alex Trusty.

Curated by Luciano Bolzoni.
